The objectives of the Biodiversity Innovation Lab were to:
- Give students the opportunity to develop their ideas in an intensive, collaborative, and creative environment
- Bring together students from different ages, backgrounds and interests
- Bring together students with cutting edge thinkers and doers across the sciences, arts and design to inspire students to solve 21st century challenges through their own ideas and pursue their creative capacities
- Deepen understanding into the theme of biodiversity and the potential creative solutions to existing challenges
The days were structured as follows:
- UK ArtScience Prize and Future Forum teams worked on project ideas in parallel.
- Creativity sessions were delivered by expert mentors to inspire project development
- Opportunities for cross-pollination were provided through critical feedback session across teams led by expert mentors
- Designers collaborated closely with each student team
- Event closed with presentations to a panel of judges, with exhibition and celebration open to the public
